You entrust your case to the law firm "maxius", a burgerlijke vennootschap in de vorm van een coöperatieve vennootschap met beperkte aansprakelijkheid (cvba) [civil company in the form of a cooperative limited liability company] under Belgian law, having its registered office at 6 Ambachtenlaan, 3001 Leuven (Heverlee), and registered in the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (central business register) under company number 0870.947.954. 

maxius has a branch office in Brussels, at 13-15 Livornostraat, box 7. 

The lawyers at maxius are authorized to practice law in Belgium under the title of “lawyer”. They practice the profession in their own name or through their company as a partner or associate of maxius, an association pursuant to the Regulation of the Order of Flemish Bars of 8 November 2006 on partnerships by and between lawyers.

Professional rules and code of conduct 

The lawyers of the firm are members of the Leuven Bar and some of the (Dutch-speaking) Brussels Bar also. 

They are subject to the rules of the Order of Flemish Bars and of the National Order, which are posted on http://www.advocaat.be/Page.aspx?genericid=87, as well as to the regulations of their bar, which are posted on www.balieleuven.be/reglementen.php or http://www.baliebrussel.be/nl/deontologie/reglementen-codex-en-resoluties-noab. 

Out-of-court settlements 

The out-of-court settlement rules laid down in the following codes or regulations apply to our lawyers: 

For the Leuven Bar: Leuven Bar Regulations, codification of 23 September 2013 

For the Dutch-speaking Brussels Bar: Codex 2012.

Professional liability insurance 

The professional liability of maxius cvba and all our lawyers is covered by a collective policy taken out by the Order of Flemish Bars from AMLIN Europe NV (with office in Belgium at 9 Koning Albert II-Laan, 1210 Brussels) as lead insurer (70%) and Zurich Insurance (25%) (with office in Belgium at 7 Lloyd Georgelaan, 1000 Brussels) and KBC Verzekeringen NV (5%) (with office at 2 Professor R. Van Overstraetenplein, 3000 Leuven) for a total amount of €2,500,000.00 per claim. The professional liability policy provides coverage throughout the world, subject to clarifications and exceptions set out in the civil liability policy for lawyers.
